Why do we study the xPress Pearl case?
We do it because we can!
We are a community of students, researchers and academics with a wide interest in Blue sciences. We sat and watched the sinking of the xPress Pearl vessel and its aftermath. Together we can analyze this case from many angles. What happened and why? What is going on under the surface? What are the ecological and social impacts? How can we contribute to improve the situation? What can we expect in the future? What have we learned? How to explain it in simple words to others? |
Who do we write for?
We want to reach a wide audience, using simple texts and media. We want to contribute with useful information about the xPress Pearl event that can be used by other media and schools. We also want to highlight the diversity of Blue ocean and coastal sciences. Rigor
We want to write simple and focused texts, but they should be factual, correct, and based on research. We use media to illustrate our points, and we limit our texts to 500 words. Critical views and informed debate are part of the science process, and are thereby welcome. |
The topics
For practical purposes, we divided the contributions into four main areas: 1 Ecology and pollution, 2 Mitigation and remediation, 3 Socio-economics 4 Disaster management and strategy. Utilization
